First Visit

At the first visit, Dr. Young will review your medical and dental history, followed by a thorough examination and a consultation. We will determine your specific needs and discuss treatment recommendations. A customized treatment plan will complete the comprehensive examination. The initial visit will last about 1.5 hours. Every patient is unique; therefore, if your needs are complex, Dr. Young may schedule you for a second consultation.

If current (less than 1 year old) x-rays are not available, Dr. Young will prescribe the appropriate images to be taken at this initial visit. This may include a full set of xrays, individual xrays, or a 3-D xray called a CT scan.

Some individuals need antibiotic pre-medication prior to dental/periodontal examination and treatment. If you know you have to pre-medicate and you need a prescription, or if you are unsure and have a risk factors (heart murmur, mitral valve prolapse, history of rheumatic fever, artificial joint or bone, or recent heart procedure), please call our office for assistance.
